I'm Justin. An American lawyer living in the Netherlands. I started on the same journey you are on: to automate office work. Overwhelmed with manual processes everywhere, I started with a single Google search (How to automate Microsoft Office) which changed my career path to working in automating systems and processes. I'd like to help you on your own journey.
I studied computers, linguistics and Russian at university. I had already lived around Moscow and Minsk as a volunteer between high school and university so I was already fluent in Russian and enjoyed living in other countries. My career goal was in fact to work for government intelligence. I actually interviewed with a couple of them for over a year. I was not ultimately accepted so I turned my sights to becoming an international lawyer.
After law school in Washington, DC, I immediately moved to Brussels where I worked as an independent contractor. I was later hired by an American medical device manufacturer and moved to work in their European offices in Amsterdam. As a corporate lawyer, I noticed that my workload was increasing exponentially and that the work fell into patterns that could be automated. I fell in love with this work and my title was changed to focus on legal department systems and processes.
I left after 10 years and created my own consulting company so I can take these services to many clients.
I learned web development in college and enjoy creating complex, database-driven solutions. I've gone on to building solutions in the Microsoft environment and even connect them with other outside solutions.
I speak English, Russian, Dutch, Spanish and French (the last two I can function in them if I have to!). I finished the following languages on DuoLingo: Italian, Portuguese, German, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Ukrainian, Polish, Czech, and of course Russian, Dutch, Spanish and French. I like languages!
